I know, I've been AWOL

To the one of you who reads this, sorry I haven't posted in a while.  I've been busy with traveling and whatnot.  Will be back when I feel inspired by the web again.

Latest Obsession

I've loved JGL ever since Angels in the Outfield, but my obsession has been reignited by Inception.  A couple amazing clips featuring him from hitRECord, his film collaboration project.

EDIT: Credit must be given to Sarah Daly, the writer of these two scripts, and the true star of the films.

Collective Nouns Illustrated

All Sorts is a collection of collective nouns, i.e. a gaggle of geese, or more inventive examples such as "a slur of boozers," "an intrigue of spies," or "a hail of cabbies."

They have now posted 15 of the entries, illustrated.  My favorite is "a fish of surrealists."

Tobias Wong Killed Himself...Or Did He?

Wonderful article from NY Times details the late Tobias Wong--a "complex, mercurial, mischievous" designer and conceptual artist.  Especially interesting because I am prone to sleepwalking, talking, and night terrors myself, but nothing like he was.
During episodes, Mr. Wong would rise from bed in a zombielike trance and perform elaborate tasks (bill clients, make funny outfits for his cats) that require agency and concentration, if not full consciousness.
...
When he woke up a few hours later, Mr. Dubitsky recalled, Mr. Wong had slipped into a sleepwalking state. Mr. Dubitsky tried to chat with him, then went to bed.

The next morning, he found his partner dead. The office of the chief medical examiner in Manhattan ruled it a suicide by hanging.

Some of Wong's work...

Area Grandmother Comes Forward as Banksy

Those drawings? Oh, yes, those are mine," said the diminutive octogenarian, who admitted to scaling buildings and climbing fences in order to put up life-sized stenciled images that satirize modern society's mores and its inherent political power structures.
The Onion has some gems lately.

Cheaper travel for those with open minds

Kayak's new Explore feature allows you to search for available flights from a departure city by price range, time frame, activities, temperature, and languages spoken.

Genius.
